Nepali Sarangi (Nepali:सारंगी), a classical musical instrument of Nepal

Sarangi (Nepali: सारंगी) is a traditional musical instrument of Nepal with 4 strings. In the past Sarangi has been played by Gandarvas only in ‘Gahine’ songs, but its spell-bounding music is so tempting that many people are on to it nowadays. Its melodious music has been mentioned in many literature works and folk/modern songs. Its sound is very close to sorrowful human voice.
It is believed that it had been originated from Central Hilly region, more particularly Gandaki Region (Mainly Lamjung and Tanahu). The majority of Gandarvas are found in this region. Because of modernization new Gandarva generations are not continuing their traditional expertise. There was a time we were much worried and concerned about its extinction, but its powerful musical melody attracted many young Nepali artists. Its influence can be seen in modern Nepali songs.
Sarangi is made from a light wooded tree locally called Khirro (Nepali: खिर्रो). It has two openings as in the photo. Traditionally the string were used to be of sheep’s dried intestine. Intestinal nerves were separated and woven into string. Nowadays, nylon strings has replaced traditional ones. These 4 strings are played with a bow. The bow strings used to be of horse-tail hairs, but they are also been replaced with nylon strings nowadays.
In the early days when there were no good means of communication, Gahine Geet were very famous for conveying message and some incident that occurs in the villages of Nepal. Many forms of news from many villages used to travel across hills in the form of Gahine Geet.
I am very much fascinated by "The Mountain Music Project"
If u like to feel its melody see this video:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7FDQuyzSFQ

American and British troops getting ready for a musical evening at a camp in France

Image by National Library of Scotland
This photograph shows a group of American and British soldiers relaxing in a clearing in thick woodland. Several of the Americans are in white vest shirts and holding musical instruments, including a trumpet, trombone and saxophone. Two officers in the foreground are examining a rifle.
The American army encouraged music to improve morale. Black American jazz musicians playing for the troops were responsible for the increasing popularity of jazz at this period.

Singing is today the center of Native American tradition (now also known as “First Nations” or “First People”). Here you can see several instruments that are integral to the music, often as accompaniment. Drums, rattles, and flutes are the most common traditional instruments played, but certain peoples have distinct instrumental traditions and legends related to their instruments.

I discovered the video of the carrot pan-flute in YouTube after having developed my vegetable ocarinas. Because the video was not a video of the person himself, I did not understand it well, but understand that it is a group called “Flute ‘n’ Veg” now. The URL www.flutenveg.com I imitated the carrot pan-flute for my pleasure and completed it. I am sorry not to be able to explain circumstances for a long time. It was such a reason to have “imitated”. The name of a song is “Moon On The Ruined Castle “(Koujou no Tuki)

Start the parade! Even very young musicians can shake, rattle, and thump these easy-to-handle toy instruments, and it’s a joy kids never outgrow. That’s why this quality music set makes a great playroom staple (and everything stores in the drum)! Bug-themed music set includes kids’ marching drum, centipede drumsticks, jingle bell ant, busy bee maraca/clacker, caterpillar tambourine, and two shaka-shaka eggs. A fun way to develop music and motor skills. For ages 18 months and up.. Toy drum has a handle and breakaway strap, so kids can march around with it . Eight-piece first instrument set includes:. Drum (9¼”H x 12″W x 9¾”H). 2 Drumsticks (10″L x 1″ in diameter). Jingle bell (8″L x 6″W x 2″H). Maraca/clacker (7½”L x 2¾”W x 3¾”H) . Tambourine (5″L x 5″W x 1¾”H) . 2 Shaka-shaka eggs (2¼”L x 1½” in diameter) . Wipe clean

Probably because it was a crappy version of some plastic paper over a cardboard tube that no more made a drum sound than a toilet seat does.

This isn’t a perfect instrument, some of the keys didn’t close well and Seth had to improvise, and to use some fingers to close keys that didn’t seal well. This is the reason – as some of you have noticed – the fingering seems odd.

This short video explains how to make and play several free musical instruments made out of used goods. These instruments will be used to develop curriculum for schools who can’t afford music programs.
